The Nuances of a New Job

With every new job there is an element of a learning curve with any job.  There are HUGE curves and then little bends.  Very much like a huge roller coaster really.  This new venture with the journal is going to be just like that and I feel that the ride is going to last for a few times around the track.  Yesterday we had a brief conversation with Emma regarding what a forensic pathologist/Medical Examiner is and what they do and started our "Forensic 101" course, which I am assuming is going to be ongoing for many years.  In the discussion I asked if there were any books that perhaps we should read/look through so that we could familiarize ourselves a little bit more with the topics that might come across our desks (or should I say our desktops).  Emma gave us some really good suggestions and then I asked, thinking she wouldn't go for this, what about us observing an autopsy?  Well she thought it would be a GREAT idea!  YIKES!!!  Me and my big mouth.  All in good time, but I am thinking it would be quiet the experience, wouldn't it?

Every meeting we have in regards to the journal it brings up so many other questions, thoughts and great ideas.  It is very exciting and we tend to leave the meetings with, what I can only relate to as a Tasmanian Devil swirling around in my head.  It takes us almost another 1/2 hour of talking, planning and writing to get our brain to semi-settle down.

Many things to accomplish before our meeting on Saturday so I better get at it.
